Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe
The 4xe powertrain has been hugely popular for Jeep; the Wrangler 4xe is among the highest-selling PHEVs in North America. The Grand Cherokee variant doesn’t quite reach the same sales levels, but given the wind currently in the sails of the PHEV segments, considering how hybrids are the type of vehicles many fuel-conscious buyers are favouring at the moment, the Grand Cherokee should be a popular choice going forward.
Power is rated at 270 hp and 279 lb-ft of torque, sourced from a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder and twin electric motors. Paired with the available Quadra-Drive II AWD system, the Grand Cherokee 4xe really is the go-anywhere PHEV, and with a host of creature comforts such as top-drawer interior material usage and Uconnect 5.0 infotainment to boot.

Kia Sorento PHEV

The Sorento PHEV was given a facelift for the 2023 model-year, at which point the SUV adopted the evolved tiger nose grille, vertical headlamp lenses and Y-shape DRLs that are becoming hallmarks of the Kia lineup. That also make it one of the most futuristic-looking vehicles on this list, which is nice in a segment that doesn’t always put styling first.
Inside, we find a digital dash made up of twin 12.3-inch digital displays, an angular take on the traditional t-bar shifter and little design flourishes on the door panels.
With a combined 261 hp and 259 lb-ft, it’s also the second-most powerful model in the Sorento range.
